Interpreting the disease. Autoethnography

This article presents an autoethnography of a social researcher based on the experience of cariing to an oncological patient, occurred during 2016-2018. The central issue is an exploration on medical interpretation. The argument is organized around four axes: diagnosis, reports, specialized treatment and the language of biomedicine. The discussion, which starts specifying the approach constructed by this autoethnographic technique, questions the readings of disease from its conditions of production, which include the institutional, organizational and training frameworks of health professionals. In addition, the article develops other aspects, such as the role of the person responsible of caring.
